Jean Ballard

Jean Ballard (1893-1973) was a French poet, author and editor.

Early life

Jean Ballard was born on November 14, 1893 in Marseille , France. [1] He grew up in Marseille and passed his Baccalaureate, specializing in mathematics. [2]

Career

Ballard began writing with Fortunio , a literary review founded by author Marcel Pagnol . [2] He was the founder and editor of Les Cahiers du Sud from 1925 to 1966. [2] [3]

Death and legacy

Ballard died on June 18, 1973 in his hometown of Marseille. [1] [3] He was 79 years old. [3] The Cours Jean Ballard in the 1st arrondissement of Marseille was named in his honor.
